Tuition - Effectively $12,000/year
Phoenix Friends School tuition is set at $19,000/year. The expanded Empowerment Scholarship Account Program covers $7,000 per student, if applied. See below for more on the ESA Program. Financial assistance is available based on family income. We strive to meet 100% of demonstrated need for qualifying families.
Phoenix Friends School tuition is all inclusive and covers field trips, school uniform, service learning projects, and other special programs.
Phoenix Friends School observes an “evergreen” tuition policy, meaning that the tuition charged at the time of enrollment remains unchanged through a student’s graduation from the 8th grade.
Choices of after school programs are billed separately.

Empowerment Scholarship Account Program
Arizona makes scholarship funds available to parents with children in private schools. Arizona House Bill 2853 authorized the expansion of grants to all families in the state to provide parents with more choices for schools, ideally schools selected to fit the special talents of each child.
The expanded Empowerment Scholarship Account (ESA) Program is available for students entering Phoenix Friends School for the 2023/24 school year, with grants of $6,000 to $7,000 available per child each year. For families of students enrolled in Phoenix Friends School, this reduces the annual tuition cost by roughly one-third, leaving $12,000 or $13,000 to pay.
Under HB – 2853, families apply for funds directly, and grants are paid directly to the family for payment to PFS. See https://www.azed.gov/esa and https://www.azed.gov/esa/frequently-asked-questions.
Arizona Tuition Tax Credit Program
The state of Arizona allows private school students to apply for tax-credit scholarships from School Tuition Organizations (STOs). Funds are awarded through STOs and based on need. Students can apply for funding from multiple STOs each year. Students receiving ESA funding are not eligible for Tuition Tax Credit funding. If you wonder which program is right for you, we would be glad to talk with you about it.
For more information on how to contribute to the program and receive a dollar-for-dollar tax credit, please see our Arizona Tuition Tax Credit Program page.
